John Restall is a founding partner of the law firm Restall & Restall LLP, however, prior to July of 1990, John had practiced at the firm then known as Swystun & Company in Winnipeg from 1973 to 1990. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg, and then graduated with his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, in Toronto, and was called to the Bar, in Winnipeg, in June of 1973.

John has a broad range of experience encompassing many areas of law, including civil and family law, residential corporate and commercial transactions (such as the purchase and sale of businesses, commercial properties and related financing and security transactions, incorporations of small businesses, shareholder agreements, real estate transactions, corporate restructuring and partnership agreements), the purchase, sale and refinancing of residential properties, as well as broad career experience in the preparation of wills, powers of attorneys, and the probate and administration of estates.

John is married with three grown children, all of whom went to college and to professional schools in the United States, where they continue to reside with their families.

Throughout his career, John has had a wide variety of sporting interests, including golf, baseball, football, and hockey. In addition, he has been active both as a director and president of a number of community organizations in the Winnipeg area.

John has travelled extensively throughout his career and, at present, spends most of his time either practicing law in Winnipeg, travelling abroad, or residing, during the winter months, in Florida.
