Mikal practices law primarily in the following areas: Corporate and Commercial law, Residential and Commercial Real Estate law; Wills, Estates, Powers of Attorney, and Trusts Law; Employment Law; and Family Law (excluding contested court-related matters).
Mikal grew up in the Elmwood/East Kildonan, where he graduated from Miles Macdonell Collegiate while playing football and hockey. He then attained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, completing it with distinction, while majoring in Marketing and Human Resource Management. After attending the Asper School of Business, Mikal worked as a Human Resources Manager at UPS and later as a Student Service Advisor at Red River College.
Mikal then achieved his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba, where he graduated third year with the third-highest standing in his class. He further achieved the highest mark in the following classes while receiving his J.D.: Constitutional Law, Real Estate Law, and Administrative Law. Mikal was heavily involved in student governance at Robson Hall, most notably when he served as the Manitoba Law Students’ Association President, where he amended the faculty’s policies, helped establish an articling position at the University of Manitoba, assisted in implementing capital projects for new study areas and gender-neutral washrooms, and advocated for students’ interests. Mikal was also the Head Student Editor of the Manitoba Law Journal, where he assisted in publishing many journal issues and articles. Mikal further has various publications to his credit.
Recently, Mikal has initiated his LL.M. at the University of Edinburgh in International Commercial Law and Practice. Mikal also lectures at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba, in the Business Law Class.
